The articles in this book were selected and categorized by Prof. Soedradjad himself. Each article responds to the issues of the day. Prof. Soedradjad’s accumulated knowledge and long experience as a lecturer gave him a broad perspective on the chosen topic.

By reading this anthology of essays, readers are invited to see a mosaic of Prof. Soedradjad’s thoughts. However, the selection of essays in this book provides enough common threads regarding Prof. Soedradjad’s thoughts as an academic in the field of domestic and foreign economics. It is indeed fortunate that a professor who has a role in the history of the development of Indonesian political economy thought and praxis continues to write down his thoughts and share it with the wider community. We can always learn something from theory, but experience in practice really complements the theory we learn working in the actual world, working in government and its impact in influencing people’s lives. Prof. Soedradjad is not just a writer, he is a record-keeper and provides a unique perspective on important events that affect people’s lives. The Wirakarya Adhitama Award, the highest award for loyalty and perseverance in work from the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Indonesia, is a testament to that contribution.
