Since its establishment in 1872, Bethlehem Municipality has diligently managed the town amidst difficult circumstances in Palestine over the past two centuries. As the birthplace of Jesus Christ, the municipal council bears the responsibility of promoting and safeguarding the town. A research project documents Bethlehem Municipality's history until the Israeli occupation, including challenges like a fire during the 1938 revolt and external authorities' oversight. Historian Mr. Khalil Shokeh was chosen to conduct the research due to his expertise in Bethlehem's history. The research outlines how different governments utilized municipalities to implement policies. The book features detailed analysis and photographs. Bethlehem Municipality extends gratitude to Mr. Shokeh, the twin city of Villa De Canes in Spain, and others who contributed. The town's current status is credited to the efforts of past municipal councils in promoting and preserving Bethlehem.
