This Economic History issue of the RRPE was conceived as an attempt to dramatize the central importance of historical analysis in any attempt to understand the capitalist economy and the possibilities of a transition to socialism. The result, we feel is an extremely exciting set of essays, considerably deepening our comprehension of the class structure of capitalism and its institutional roots.
