The Instructor's Manual to accompany MACROECONOMICS, by Anthony 5. Campagna, is designed to facilitate your teaching of of the theoretical and factual material presented in the text. Each chapter in this manual contains the five parts described below. In addition, a descriptive Overview of each text chapter is given at the beginning of the corresponding chapter of the Study Guide that accompanies the Campagna text. To save space, this overview has been omitted from the Instructor's Manual, but you may find it a useful starting point in organizing textual material for lecture and discussion.rn1. Objectives: The list of objectives provides means for students to identify skills and concepts that they should have gleaned from the chapter. If a particular objective does not apply to your course, it would be wise to mention that to the class, because these objectives are also listed in the Study Guide. The students are advised to use the objectives as a means of organizing their study and as a handy review of key points.rn2. Ideas for Lecture and Discussion: Topics introduced in the chapter are amplified in this section. Alternative ways of presenting the material are discussed, and additional examples are provided. Some of the material in the Instructor's Manual and the text may be directed to particular audiences--more mathematically adept students, for example. Such material is specifically identified. In some cases, games or simulations are suggested as a means of increasing interest and understanding.rn3. Additional Resources: A variety of teaching materials are available for many topics in economics. Several are listed in this section of each chapter. They are categorized as Books and Monographs, Articles, and Audio-Visual Aids. The audio- visual aids can be used in the classroom and, in some cases. independently. Some of the readings from books and articles are technical readings geared for the instructor. Others are suit- able supplementary readings for students.rn4. Essay Questions: The essay questions are designed to suggest thought-provoking topics or problems based on text materials. Many are applications of theoretical material to current issues, others stress the link between the assumptions and the conclu- sions of economic models. Guidelines to essay answers are provided after each question. Because students may make addi- tional or specialized assumptions in their answers, these guide- Iines should not be required as the only right approach. Essay questions may be used in class discussions or on quizzes and exams.rn5. Multiple-Choice Questions: Multiple-choice questions are pro- vided for your use on quizzes and examinations. These questions are of two forms--factual and applied. Factual questions can be answered directly from the text (the page where the answer can be found is always indicated). They are largely recall questions. Applied questions require the student to go beyond simple recall. The answer is not necessarily available on the text page provided. Instead, the theory or definition that should be used in answering the question may appear on the page indicated. These questions are similar to but not identical to the multiple-choice questions that appear in the Study Guide.rnThe Instructor's Manual is designed for your use. Economics is an exciting subject with much to say about current world problems.
