What political economy is all about : an exposition and critique
Starting from the idea of political economy, this book discusses the basis for perspective economics and the rationale of the economist's efficiency criterion. This gives context and motivation for the careful consideration of standard allocation rules, the concepts of consumer surplus and rent, second best and externalities. This presents welfare economics without recourse to algebra and with many concrete applications to show the ideas in use. In the final part the book discusses sources of economic failure in a technological age.
