The number of documents drafted by the Liberator numbered more than ten thousand, including letters, communiques, decrees, messages, manifestos, proclamations, speeches, constitutional compositions, etc. The documents included in this book, however, have been compiled for the specific purpose of outlining a synthesis of Simon Bolivar's thinking, and we have selected texts particularly related to the principles of independence, sovereignty and social justice.
