This volume deals with two major petroleum producers and exporters: Mexico and Norway. While the body of literature on the member states of OPEC (Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries) has burgeoned in recent years, publications dealing with non-OPEC sources have not kept pace. Among the non-OPEC oil and gas exporters, Mexico and Norway are of growing significance, the former because of its vast reserves and proximity to the energy-hungry United States and the latter because of its proximity to industrialized Europe and its high degree of supply security.
