The lotus sutra : a message of peace and harmonious coexistence
Curated by the Institute of Oriental Philosophy, the Lotus Sutra exhibition, 'The Lotus Sutra: A Message of Peace and Harmonious Coexistence', brings together collections of rare Buddhist manuscripts and artefacts available at the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts in Russia, the Dunhuang Academy in China, the National Archives of India and several other premier institutions around the world.
The exhibition chronicles, trough the centuries, the development and transmission of the Buddhist schools of thought that gave rise to the Lotus Sutra and its multi-linguistic translations, spreading along the Silk Road from India to the western, central, eastern and south-eastern regions of Asia.
The exhibits that include photographs, facsimiles, replicas of precious Buddhist texts and artefacts are a befitting testimony to the diligent and painstaking effort in modern times, to revive and preserve the rich cultural and spiritual legacy of the Lotus Sutra.
