Exellencies and distinguished guests, The theme for this convention is Dedicating Geoscience to Regional Prosperity and Conservation. This theme was chosen due to the fact that the exploitation of natural resources is ever increasing for local and regional prosperity with the risks of negative impacts on environment if it is not done properly and carefully. At this moment already gather here are geoscientists and other related scientists to share their findings and experiences with us in their respective geoscience fields in Indonesia or in Southeast Asia. It is hoped that in this meeting those experts will present the results of their research and experiences in searching and utility natural resources that stored inside the mother earth for the good of mankind without damaging the nature itself. Let us give the best in doing what we are doing in our respective jobs. We need to posses this spirit of always giving the best, as a scientist or as a citizen, in anticipation of the world's fast advancement of science and technology and for dedicating thoughts for this developing nation.
