Indonesia : an economic geography of energy



Indonesia is a country in South East Asia with high growth in consumption for energy. The Indonesian high economic growth was an important factor behind the increasing demand for energy. The consumption of energy, as well as it population and economic activities, are not homogeneously distributed. Indonesia has substantial and diverse energy resources, and is a net exporter of energy. It has a geograpical advantage being located closely to industrialized countries in Asia. Indonesia exports include oil, natural gas, and coal. Oil plays an important role as the principal supplier of Indonesia's domestic energy requirement. Oil share in primary energy consumption accounted for 62o in 1985 and 55% in 1995.
