International Energy Strategies Proceedings of the 1979 IAEE/RFF Conference

The sharp rise in oil prices and the embargo of 1973-74 stimulated a growing interest in international energy questions. One indicator of this interest was the decision in late 1977 to establish an International Association of Energy Economists. Under the guidance of President Sam Schurr and President-elect James Plummer, the association has established chapters in Chicago, Denver, Houston, India, Los Angeles, New England, New York, Northern California, Paris, the United Kingdom, and Washington, D.C. It has more than 1000 members from all over the world. The first two issues of its own quarterly journal, The Energy Journal, have appeared so far this year.
