Breeding bio insecurity : how U.S. biodefense is exporting fear, globalizing risk, and making us all less secure
Breeding Bioinsecurity: How US Biodefense is Exporting Fear, Globalizing Risk, and Making Us All Less Secure delves into the impact of the United States' biodefense strategies on global security. This book examines how US biodefense initiatives, intended to protect against biological threats, have inadvertently contributed to global insecurity by amplifying fears, exporting risk, and destabilizing international norms. The authors acknowledge the significant contributions of Martin Furmanski for providing unpublished research, Ambassador James Leonard for ensuring historical accuracy in chapter 3, and various experts including Jens Kuhn, Mark Wheelis, Marie Chevrier, John Gilbert, and anonymous reviewers for their critical feedback. Special thanks are also extended to Chandré Gould for her insights on Project Coast. The dedication is to family members, with Lynn Klotz expressing gratitude to his own family and Ed Sylvester dedicating the work to his wife, children, and granddaughter.
