The 1996 Annual Convention theme, "Human Resource Development in Facing the Era of Globalisation", covers scientific and engineering aspects on steam field, power plant, and other related topics in geothermal development which have been included into 25 papers. The involvement of foreign speakers is limited, but it is expected to have more international involvement in the next Convention. The selection of the theme relates to a report of increasing foreign investor interested in developing geothermal energy in Indonesia. This will directly or indirectly relate to the human resource quality. Therefore, the Committee has selected two keynote speakers from educational institution as a manpower maker and from geothermal industry as a manpower user.
