Linking rural electrification with rural development in Asia
Much has been expressed about the complexities of planning and implementation of rural electrification projects. On the one hand, there are requirements for not only the technical and economic viability and social impacts. On the other hand, the consumers of electricity in such projects are generally widely dispersed and of low economic means. These contradictory requirements have to be met within the overall constraints of the availability of financing and technical expertise.
