The book represents a synthesis of the author's auditing experience with a leading national firm of public accountants and his ex- perience in teaching the subject. The subject matter is presented as it would be seen through the eyes of a senior accountant, who must, of course, have in mind his own immediate activities and responsibilities, the needs of his principal, and the purpose and technique of the auditing steps being carried out by the junior accountants whom he is supervising.
