Principles of economics
Economics is the study of daily human activities, as stated by renowned economist Alfred Marshall. Despite advancements in economic knowledge, this definition remains relevant today. There are three main reasons for students to study economics. Firstly, it helps in understanding the world, addressing issues like housing shortages in cities, airline pricing strategies, actor salaries, and economic disparities between countries. Secondly, it enhances decision-making skills in personal and professional financial matters, such as education duration, spending habits, savings, and pricing strategies in businesses. Lastly, economics provides insights into economic policies and their impacts, guiding policymakers on taxation, trade, environmental protection, and budget deficits. Having economic knowledge can lead to informed social resource allocation decisions and potential future involvement in policymaking. Understanding economic principles is valuable in various life situations, whether managing personal finances, operating a business, or shaping government policies.
