From APEC 2011 to APEC 2012 : American and Russian perspectives on security and cooperation in the Asia-Pacific
This volume is collaborative project of the Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies and Far Eastern Federal University.
Far Eastern Federal University (FEFU) is one of Russia’s top research universities and the largest institution of higher education in the in the Russian Far East. Its history dates back to 1899 – the year the Oriental Institute was established in Vladivostok. With more that 50,000 students, FEFU includes nine schools: School of Engineering, School of Humanities, School of Natural Sciences, School of Arts, Culture and Sports, School of Business and Public Administration, School of Lwas, and School of Biomedic. FEFU’s development program, supported by the Russian government, focuses on six priority areas: ocean resources, energy resources and energy-conservation, nano-systems and nano-materials, transportation and logistics, biomedical technology, and Asia-Pacific on Russky Island off Vladivostok is also the main venue for the APEC 2012 summit.
The Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies is U.S. Department of Defense academic institute that addresses regional and global security issues. Military and civilian representatives, most from the Asia-Pacific nations, participate in a comprehensive program of executive education, professional exchanges and outreach events, both in Hawaii Pacific Command by developing and sustaining relationships among the region. Its mission is to build capacities and communities by educating, connecting, and empowering security practitioners.
